One night a man had a dream.

He dreamed that he was walking

along the beach with the lord.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.

For each scene there were two sets of footprints in the sand,

a set belonging to him and a set belonging to the lord.

When the last scene of his life had flashed before him,

he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many ltimes along the path of his life,

there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that this had happened during the very lowest

and saddest times of his life.

This really bothered him so questioned the lord, saying,

“lord, you said that when i followed you,

you would walk with me all the way.

Yet i have noticed during the very lowest and saddest times in my life,

there was only ne set of footprints.

Why my lord did you leave me when i needed you the most.

The lord replied “my precious child, i never left you.

I love you, you are precious to me.

Where you see one set of footprints

during the darkest times of your life,

that was when i lifted you up on my shoulders and carried you.”
